Event Rules & Guidelines

There are several important rules & guidelines for Moanalua Gardens and for this event; we ask that ALL ATTENDEES be mindful of these things while planning your visit.

*Please note: any violations of these guidelines may result in being asked to leave the grounds.*

  • Tickets & Pricing:

    • Presale tickets are available for purchase from haumāna (students) in any participating hālau; tickets will also be available for sale at the event.

      • Pre-paid will-call tickets will be held at the entrance nearest to Moanalua Middle School.

        • You must be able to identify what hālau you purchased your ticket from, and the name of the dancer so we may locate your ticket.

        • Will-call tickets MUST be pre-paid prior to the event, or you may be subject to the increased day-of-pricing.

    • Ticket pricing:

      • PRESALE: Ages 12y.o. and above = $20; All others (11 y.o. and below) = $15

      • AT THE DOOR: Ages 12y.o. and above = $30; All others (11 y.o. and below) = $25

      • NOTE: Ages 5 and under are FREE and do not need a ticket to enter.

    • DAY-OF TICKET PURCHASES (except will-call) may be made at the event entrances using CASH or VENMO only.

  • Parking:

    • Please carpool whenever possible, as parking is limited.

    • Limited parking is available at Moanalua Elementary & Moanalua Intermediate (first come, first served); street parking is also available.

      Note: Please be mindful of your personal belongings and your vehicle throughout the event; Hoʻolau Kanaka and Moanalua Gardens are not responsible for any lost and/or damaged personal property.

    • ADA-accessible parking will be available on a limited basis at the main Moanalua Gardens parking lot; Handicap placard MUST be available and displayed.

      • Golf-cart shuttle will be avaialble to transport those with physical challenges/needs from the main entrance to the event grounds.

      • If needed, you may request to drop off a member of your group for this golf-cart shuttle service, and then proceed out of the ADA parking area to the public parking areas at Moanalua Elementary/Middle School and/or street parking.

  • Please bring a papale (hat), sunscreen, and a moena (mat) to sit on.

    • You may bring a lawn chair, however, we will request that those on taller chairs sit toward the back of the audience so everyone can see the performances. Folks sitting on moena or blankets will be allowed to sit up closer to the stage.

    • In order to accommodate viewing for all audience members and for audience safety, those seated in wheelchairs will be seated along the outer perimeter of the viewing area.

  • Please be aware that many of the food and beverage booths will be CASH ONLY.

    • Craft fair vendors may be able to accept other forms of payment (e.g. credit card or Venmo/Paypal, etc.) at their discretion.

    • There will NOT be an ATM available on-site, so please prepare accordingly.

  • ADA Accessibility: We are making every effort to ensure as much accessibility as possible; this includes:

    • ADA accessible parking at the main Moanalua Gardens parking lot;

    • Golf-cart shuttle from Moanalua Gardens main parking lot to the event grounds; and

    • ADA-accessible restrooms.

  • Please be mindful of the environment and mālama the Gardens.

    • NO CLIMBING or hanging anything on or around the trees (especially the large Hatachi tree on the grounds).

    • NO SWIMMING or entering the loʻi or the pond.

    • Please do not walk on the hula pā or up on/into the blue Kamehameha V cottage or the Chinese House.

    • Please do not feed any birds or animals on the grounds.

  • The following are not allowed on the grounds (bags and items will be checked upon entry):

    • Coolers (except for in the case of medical necessity)

    • Outside food & drinks (guests may bring a personal bottle for water only)

    • Alcohol (This is strictly a NO ALCOHOL event.)
